There's a problem when someone makes a chicken track around, then through everyone using it that turns into a hard track, so someone makes another chicken track. Sometimes you end up with four or five parallel tracks - it looks terrible and doesn't do our hobby any good.

I think it should be renamed 'the sensible way' and the route it goes around be renamed 'the lunatic way' depending on severity

And now I realise what made me subconsciously change what I wanted for my dinner from fish to something from Oporto.

well l don't mind taking the alternative route so l am in position to take photos of the assault up the difficult approach and the heroes who do take the difficult path like the photos of their adventurers as they are too busy doing the task so it all works out well.

track degregradtion has been an issue since l first started 4wding in 1984 especially in winter when the attraction of mud on tracks require the hoons to muddy their cars and windscreens by travelling at excessive speeds and swerving down tracks.

eventually track closures will mean we will all be consigned to driving toorak tractors

one thing l do like being in WA is access to beach driving l hope sea side residential development doesn't prevent this aspect of 4wding in the future

    Gotta agree with Dave, there.

Sometimes I wan to just get outta the city and into the bush. I'm not interested in showing off and getting there safely is more important to me.

Having said, I've been places where the hard route was probably safer because of the number of idiots raging up and down the easy one.

And then there are those who, not content with waiting for slower drivers or people who get stuck, go perpendicular off the track and see how far they can push into the bush.

    So...

Why did the chicken cross the track?

So I'm trying to decide if I am a "lunatic" a "******" a "hoon" or a "chicken" by all of your terminologies. I have done the most damage to my car on ironically what was the easiest option at the time also called (the chicken track).

I have a stock standard D2, I enjoy taking it out both sightseeing and on more technical tracks (your lunatic, ****** or hero tracks)

This is my hobby, I respect and do not wreck tracks, but sometimes wreck my vehicle, again this is my hobby. It harms no one apart from my wallet.

So are you all calling me a chicken, a hoon, a hero, a lunatic or a ******, cause I can't decide?

I was going to rant and rave but Dave has said it so well.

As my 4wd is my daily driver, and I have not one tattslotto I do not want to fork out the money for damage to my vehicle. So I would use it if I felt it was warranted.
I do object to the *#รง~~ who abuse the people who use them though.
If more people drove in a manner so as NOT to rip up and damage the tracks them we most likely would have more tracks to play one
