Thread: Obstaclly Challenged Alternate Route

I don't think it is offensive. Just another Australian Term. I will gladly use a "Chicken Track" if there is a fair chance of causing vehicle damage on the more adventurous track. I've got too much money tied up in a D3 to worried about being called Chicken Tracker. (is that the right term for one who ventures along a Chicken Track )

I dont have any problem with the term or using them if I feel my vehicle will get damaged!!!!

When it comes to stuff that is going to break my LR, my wallet makes me a deffinate Chicken.

I dont get offended by it, I prefer to keep on enjoying actually driving around rather than looking at the same 500 metres of mud or hill for 5 hours of winching.

I havnt built my Disco for extreme stuff but as with everyone, I would like to have a bit more stuff like lockers and simex's but then I'd only be doing that more for if I got into a situation where I needed them rather than trying to put my self in that situation.

Doesnt mean I dont like seeing my mates break their cars doing the extreme stuff.

I imagine the sort of people who would be offended would be the ones who'd charge straight through the obstacle/challenge.

It doesn't offend me in the slightest, I'm happy to make my own choices.

The guys i go out with allways point out the chicken track for me as they run the larger wheels, 5 inch lifts, lockers and so on, so the term suits when vehicles are compaired in capability

ITs been one too many times that I can recall where newbies were goaded off of a chicken track onto a tech track only to bend their vehicles or in one case side over a 110 into another one.

In the first instance everyone looses time while repairs or extended recoveries are organised in the second lives can be lost.

If someone askes about the chicken track thats fine.
IF someones offered a chicken track thats cool

Its the person who goads you about it that peeves me, not the term.

I tend to use them a lot as normally have family in car.

The term is fine. I vary depending on how it looks and how I feel. Goading can be a problem for some but if I;m not comfortable doing it then I choose the chicken track. Better to survive to try another day than loose your baby out of pride.
