I haven't had anything to do with disco II, but with rangie and disco fronts with radius arms, I remove a front bolt from a radius arm.

With the shockie removed, it allows the axle to droop enough to fit springs with a free height of 470mm without using a spring compressor.

Did you fit the springs and find the the loaded height of the springs is only 25mm more than the stock ones?

Or have you only compared the free heights?

If the second, I would assume that the new springs have a higher spring rate. Which means they wont compress as far when loaded. So 25mm taller with no load could well be 50mm taller when comparing loaded heights.

I'm pretty sure that most 2" lift springs are around the same free height as standard springs, with most of the gain coming from a change in spring rates. I'm pretty sure that the springs for the V6 Frontera I used to own even had some extra coils put on just to increase the free length back to standard.
