Now THATS funny.....

Agree, and if ARB fitted wrong will rotate offroad (fitting issue)...
TJM whilst closer to body also cause damage as per above and at lower speeds due to greater deflection in their design... (Seen it happen)
Also, TJM crush cans not designed for winch so softer and bar collapses easier...
ARB crush cans require a crash pulse of 15000+kg before deformation...
As for Sahara v Std ARB
Sahara protects critical areas (radiator)...
Std provides marginally more scrub protection but a large roo will flatten both if on the corners anyhow... Thats what insurance is for...
If you like the Sahara it will more than suit your needs.
So has anybody got a Sahara bar on a 2000 Discovery
Sneigy does. To do it there needs to be some grill trim changes, but he is the man with the tech on the conversion.
I agree.
If he'd been with me and felt the roo strikes I've had with the OE (ARB ) bar on the 'fender he might not say that.
Biggest hit I've had was a genuine 85km/h impact speed on a mid sized Eastern Grey roo front and centre. Luckily the roo was at the lowest point in the hop, and hit right in the centre so the meat of the bar took all the impact, concentrated around the roller fair lead.
Mangled my number plate, dented the steering damper and thankfully no structural damage whatsover, and it was a big hit.
Many, many more smaller hits from 70km/h and down and never a problem.
Can't say the same for the two OE aluminium bars on the current and previous Patrols....
::woot::woot::whistling:" Sahara Bar " "Sahara Bar" "Sahara Bar" :clap2::whistling::thumbsup::thumbsup::banana:
I would like to know (if someone have the experience in this) at which speed and force of impact the airbag come activated.
I asking that, because if the vehicle fitted with the mentioned bars hit a large roo @ 80 kph and the airbag is activated even if damage is avoided in the critical parts of the vehicle it will be impossible to drive (at least legally)
It is an important point when a expedition vehicle for remote areas is selected.
With or without airbags ?
I presume you have a D2a with the "pocket" headlights.
When I bought my bar I steered away from the ARB full bar is it appeared that the lower lateral bar obscured the high beam lamp. (This is not an issue with the first series D2 due to the combined headlight.) For that reason I chose a steel TJM bar. Am happy with it except for the fact that in order to fit the fog lights into the bar, they deleted the high lift jack "T" receiver.
Otherwise go the full bar, it will only take one broken headlight to regret a choice otherwise.
