well, it was in Woolies and Coles carparks and Goulds Hardware in Scone this morning, but enter at your own risk, as it had my savage, lick you to death Dana the Labrador on the back seat.

A bloke a friend knew was a security guard at places like the Marconi Club and that mongrel was responsible for knocking off tyre covers and spares from 4WD's.

    Paranoia sets in.

I have had a 40l Engel fridge stolen from the back of my Defender. Was parked in the street in front of my bedroom window, and even the dogs didn't hear the low lifes take it. Smashed the side sliding window, cut the tie downs, and lifted it out. I now have a bike lock looped throught the handle, and tie down point, whenever it is in the back of the car. Might not stop anyone from stealing it, but would make it harder, and therefore they might move on to an easier target. I have a roller drawr in the back for securtiy, as there is no storage in a Defender.

I've had a set of lights taken

True about the single (spare) wheels... a spree of midnight spares will soon enough get a full set. Airbags are another target.

Prior to some legislative changes, 'people' might pinch a Grande Cherokee - take the doors off and dump the otherwise intact car on the street. It gets recovered and assessed by the insurance company. To replace each door is $6000 painted, so it's a statutory write off. Scumbag goes to the Auctions, buys doorless Jeep for 'old rope' and sticks the doors back on then sells it! Thats a few years ago now and things have changed...except the scumbags.

    No Ron, you're not paranoid!

We get them come through work once or twice a year. When they do it would be a good 20 vehicles broken into. Security patrol a couple of times a day after an officer was beaten to a pulp one lunch time and wasn't found for a couple of hours.

    Wouldn't that be a repairable write-off? An SWO can't be re-registered.

    OK for farm use, though!
