and here I was thinking I'd be the only dope silly enough to run synthetic oils in my Briggs powered gen set and Honda mower and brush cutter...

Delvac 1 in the genny (it's nearly as old as me...) and currently 10W-30 M1 in the Honda's.

I ended up getting a GMC mower.....At $250 with 2yr warrenty and 4hp motor I cant go wrong for what I need it for (second mower for our feral backyard)

Got it home put the handle on, straightend out the blades x4, put some oil & fuel in and it fired up first pull, but after I pulled the cord a few times to try and spread some oil around in the donk 1st

Here is what I got http://www.gmcompany.com.au/index.cf...oducts&pid=632

Only differance is I got the 501, the link is for the 500, mine has a catcher and hence the body is differant mine looks much better than the one in the link.....but you get the idea...

Tells me when he's leaving that its a requirement by law these days.

Interesting is that another myth, sounds like a load of frog spawn, could the guy actually quote which law applies to instruction on a ride on???

    Interesting Rick,
however I was unaware that public liability insurance had to have an end user certificate.( last time I bought some it had no such requirement)
As the same would apply to almost anything that is motive or can be classed as a conveyance.

If that were the case public liability has no bearing on any legal requirements. ie acts of parliament ,anything enforceable.

I will stick to my original assumption , its frog spawn.

Rover will be soon be if they haven't started making them in China yet.

On the oil issue it depends where you buy the equipment. Places like Bunnings will not fill the unit with oil as they are not qualified to do so.

A mower shop will assemble and test the unit and provide a demo on how to run and maintain the unit. Yes you will pay more at a mower shop but how many mowers do we buy in our lifetime? I'm on my second in 27 years. This first one was second hand and the next was new in 1992.

You only get what you pay for these days. Service is rare.
