    General State Of Health

Only being a member of AULRO for a few months but I have noticed a few "referrals" that some blokes aren't as healthy as we would like - and others are ready to run an iron-man event.

What is the general state of health amongst our group?

    Just to set the scene........

I've just being through a rollover (18 months ago) which knocked the hell out of me. Had a recent "jolly dancer" scare which fortunately proved OK.

Got a couple of crook vertabrae and lost the right eye. Other than that I'm looking pretty good.

So what about you codgers....are you fit and healthy and ready to annoy the hell out of us for years or do we need to work with you to ensure you are here with us for a lot longer yet.

Yeah, well I thought I was crap and then I went to a AULRO Huts Group thingy and there was a bloke who was obviously "in trouble" and since then I reckon I'm OK. Hell, that bloke had heavy duty springs on the driver's side of his 130 and a smoke-sucker thing on the cabin roof.

I consider myself reasonably healthy for my age, certainly not overweight by much (82Kgs) and a non smoker, however when my time is up I do not know, may be tonight maybe later...........just got to live each day and be thankful for each day.......another day with Landrovers

Shortly after meeting your son in Euroa, I was to have lunch with family and join the LROCV trip. Never got that far, almighty pain in the chest and it was to the docs/tests/hosp/home where I am required to sit on my **** like a vegetable for a week.

Not the first time it has happened, so I would like to know WTF is going on there!

Underweight (55kg, 6ft) but I eat like an animal so I don't know why the hell I'm so thin.

    Other than that, I'm good.

I have a wieght problem which one can attribute to toomuch culinary delights from the likes of Maccas,KFC, kebabs, chinese and pizza and my penchant for red meat and roo, all this needs to be washed down so if its not beer its coke, this howeveris all in the past as I sally forth with wieght loss and general healthier living aided with a gastro band.

problems I inherited from this decadent lifestyle is a flogged out heart which is tilted to boot, as one increases in wieght your inner organs start to move as the belly increases in size so u end up with things like diaphragm shifting, bottom of the lungs being crushed limiting your intake of air, the out take of air is luckily still running in fine tune, the liver becomes encased in fatty stuff and the fat levels in your blood increases, then u have sleep apnoea which is a silent killer in itself, plus I smoked for 20 years but gave these away 5 years ago,

Hopefully I can right a few wrongs and live long enuff to complete the dream drive around Australia , its hard work, if only I had listened to a few people earlier on in life.

And add diabetes to the top list, luckily for me I am not insulin dependent as I hate needles.

The only thing that scares me is if I fallof the perch what will happen to my Landys and tools, most like the minister for matrimonial matters will call the scrap man and then go buy another horse, ah well, if she does I will haunt her forever and rattle crap out of the saucepan rack.
