I'm sure it was reported somewhere recently that he would resign from the front bench and return to the bleachers in the back row. Isn't that seeing his term through and attending to the needs of his electorate ??

My attitude towards defence spending is you prepare the forces well, then try everything under the sun to prevent having to ever use them! Whilst Labor may not live up to many peoples' demands on the first point, the government has failed dismally on the second. Mis-judged deployments in Afghanistan & Iraq in order to suck-up to the US and extract a questionable "free-trade" agreement now have Australia maligned in the international community for siding with President Bush.

This is a global issue, not just Australian. The last thing Australia needs is Labor to run all states as well as the Country. We need a balance.

Well seeing that the likes of this rubbish " I love the references back to the 80's and the "recession" we had to have, etc, etc", is being posted, I don't think you will

Obviously thought and performance has nothing to do with it.
It's a lot like Toyota versus Nissan or Holden versus Ford.
    Mind you "Bogans" buy Holden

The argument that it is better to have one party in Federal Government & another in State Govt is a myth perpetrated by the Liberal Party to con people into returning them at the last two elections. Firstly, we have a Federal system of government which guarantees the States a level of sovereignty. Secondly, it is arguably better to have the State & Federal governments NOT at war with each other. With the same party in government at both levels there is more reason for the Federal Government to want to preserve the security of their State counterparts. If the two levels of government are at loggerheads, nothing ever gets done (eg. Queensland road funding).
