I had a similar problem with my Disco earlier this year. Seems everyone does.
I fail to see how they can increase the premium and decrease the value at the same time
It won't be long before the yearly premium is $2000 and the value is $1000.
I just got my insurance renewal from GIO for the 'fenda
Agreed value $10,500.00
I can't see me replacing it for that can you?
It's a '94 you can see the mods in my "signature"
and they want $650 to ensure it.
Last year I got them up to about $16,000.00 and they charged $650.00.
Not happy Jan! I've been insured with them since I had L plates in '78 and never an "at fault" claim.
I'm shopping around this time.

I have a claim with NRMA right now - due to the Falcon being wrecked by hailstones...a week ago...
they love taking your money, but coughing up is a very different story...
...another week or more before than can get an assessor to check it out...
We're lucky it's still driveable, or we'd be in deep doggie doo....
'by my side' - not!!!! thank you NRMA - not!!!
not happy jan!
whoever you insure with, find out what happens when you are faced with a 'write off'.....
when all this is done and dusted, I'm still going to be out of pocket about $2000.... (plus all the mucking around)...
so much for insurance....

I don't really mind that my insurer's "market value" is not as high as the real value. I figure my chances of writing the vehicle off are much smaller than my chances of just dinging it up badly.
Best to just push for retention of the wreck in a write-off so you can at least recoup some of the difference in sales of parts.
I'm seriously thinking going third party property damage only. ....... I can get dents fixed up reasonably cheaply but if it is really badly damaged I'd give it to a wrecker and just walk away.... ( hopefully )
Mate, PM Sent.
Don't waste time running around.
I use an insurance broker, and they're great.
A mate of mine owns a large insurance brokers (I'm hitting him up to advertise here too!)
Helped a few folks here get good cover for non-standard vehicles and agreed value.
They've also looked after a my claims andtype incidents.
As Quiggers said, a policy or company can sound great, but for a consumer, it's not until you need em you find out whether they are any good!
