Ah you see they have learn for the UK Labour party and found you can charge any tax and pass any rules as long as it for green issues then no one can moan or agrue as it is no PC to do so . So (as the Uk labour party does) get loads of money from "Green Taxes" that don't actually go into any green prodjects , infact don't really know where they go

it's a shame more don't think like this.

The current lot have so dramatically increased the burden on so many layers of society, from the increase in paper work compliance and subsequent fiancial cost on small business (which most in this area seem to be blind to at election time ) to the greater layers of tax law and legislation right across the board, greater levels of intrusion into personal lives, the continual denial that humans are contributing to destroying our planet, the raping of the environment through unsustainable mining, logging and farming practices, (think multi-national owned cotton, rice ) and the seeming 'inability' to step in and take on/over rule the weak Qld Labor government who are in the pocket of said multi-national corps continuing to allow large scale land clearing and tragic over allocation of water of the inland rivers feeding south as they don't want to upset the parochial Qld voters. The continued erosion of civil liberties under the guise of 'anti-terror laws' and the continual peddling in fear to stay in power.

It's just base politics with no vision and I am so over it.......

<edit> FWIW, I am a small business owner/operator, have been a farmer and come from a very conservative background </edit>

I'm currently working in a country which has a 10% VAT plus average income tax is only about 10% and it certainly leaves a lot of money in your pocket. Mind you, only govt. employees get pensions, but health care is cheap and good standard, so its swings and roundabouts I guess. I wouldn't recommend it, but its interesting.

Not picking on any particular post here, but I can't believe some of the bollocks that has been espoused

I wonder if some people actually think before penning replies. Oh, I suppose that includes me.

But like all other polls they don't ask the real people.
AULRO is full of conservatives from affluent up bringings.

    nice little handgrenade there rovernaut...

don't include me in that version of the straw poll; you may also find some rather radical people here

btw: aulro is made up 'real people' whatever their political persuasion...

interestingly tho', the poll running re the vote on nov 24 has secured only about 10% of all registered aulro members...

there maybe another 90% who could help up the vote for the dems

    tis all but fun...

worked on an election with hawkie in '87, he didnt take it seriously....

The sad truth is it does not matter who you vote for these days, they all tell blatant lies to get into office, give with one hand and take with the other. Its about time our politicians were made accountable for promises that they make and stopped pandering to minorities.
Fix our infrastructure, health, schools and emergency services. All the fluffy stuff should be taken car of by business and private industry.
Our services are losing policemen, paramedics, nurse and firefighters to the resource industry because they are overworked, underpayed and stressed. Its ok to pay a government advisor or department head equivalent salaries to the private sector but not normal people.
