Portable battery box (?)

Just wondered if some of the electrical wizards could give me some advice. I do not have a 2nd battery in the car & would like to make a portable battery box that I can charge in the car as well as 240v's. It would be to run a fridge which I would like to be mobile as well as in the car. Any advice greatly appreciated.

Hi Mate
Its my plan to do the same.
Look on Ebay a guy builds them but are very dear.Very easy to copy,those battery boxes are readilly available at 12v shops/speed shops/marine dealers.
You will need a sealed gel cell type battery to have it inside the cab.
Fit a battery controller under the bonnet as usual,run the aux battery wires to the rear inside and fit a decent connection to plug the second battery in as needed.
There are some real nice looking marine power boards available to run the power from.
Im guessing a good circuit breaker would be required at the main battery end of the aux supply.

I got a waeco one for free when I bought my fridge, seems like a pretty good subsititute for an onboard battery. Easily runs the fridge overnight and charges up from the cigarette lighter socket when you are on the road next morning. Gives you the ability to carry a cold fridge other places as well such as beside the creek where you're fishing.

Hi folks, i’ve been getting enquiries for some time now, about providing a battery box for use in different set ups and connections.

I’m away all next week but if your not in a great hurry, I’ll help you set up your battery boxes while at the same time you can be helping me to develop a new line for me.

There are already a large number of battery boxes out there and I’m not interested in turning out just another one to put on the market, I want to produce one that actually meets user needs rather then the use having to tailor they needs to the limitations of the boxes available.

Cheer and just a suggestion.

I already have a few ideas that will give a battery box more usability over whats out there but these ideas are still in the development stage.

I have already sourced some Yankee made boxes, a bit dear but top quality and up to US Coast guard specs so they will suit marine applications as well as 4x4 requirements.

For now, I prefer not to elaborate too much further, for obvious reasons but if you want to post what you what a battery box to do, not just what is available now but what you would like one to do and I’ll take it from there.

Folks please not, I will be away this coming week but will try to keep in contact while away.
