    Vaile also falls on sword

I repeat my comment on the other thread - parliamentary pensions are determined by the outgoing member's EXIT salary. So of course, you resign whilst you are still in government!

He only resigned as Nats leader, not from the parliament.

I can't stand it when a party gets the ass and all the knobs leave the parliament AFTER an election, 'cause they don't want to be in opposition.
Just like a lot of Libs are doing now and a lot of Labor did in 96, and since most elections since the 1960's.

Sorry, but you're voted in by your constituents, in your area, for the term.
There's no rider on the ballot form saying "vote for me - unless I have to serve as opposition - then I'm outta here"

There are going to be a lot more by-elections yet.

Senators are supposed to represent their State.
Lower House MPs are supposed to represent their local area.

Nowhere in the Australian Constitution is there any mention of political parties, and it wasn't designed to be a 2 or 3 horse system.

Time for a military dictatorship - no elections, no politicians, (a lot of fatcats though), they might be cruel but gee they're effective

Alright, once I got the monks of the streets

No, I'm a democracy lover, and as Gough said "vote early and vote often"
