BBC, is the Wave alive and well in Southern Afghanistan?

Speaking of Afghanistan, any chance of pics and stories on Land Rovers operating in that environment?

I'm sure most members here would welcome your efforts if you could give us a first-hand insight to the role Land Rovers are playing over there.

    Any chance?
    Barra,

The Land Rover Wave here tends to be more a of a single finger gesticulation...

I will stick my camera in the car and get some of the LRPVs (6x6 & 4x4s), Bushmasters, and 6 x wheeled Gators they are using for patrol vehicles here.

They were backloading a 6x6 LRPV on a plane yesterday which had survived a TM 46 (Anti-tank) mine strike. The three boys in it were very lucky to survive..the driver was burnt with engine oil...his co'ie was smacked in the mouth by his weapon and all three were blown out and away from the vehicle...all the front-end was gone..but they are still alive.

The 6x6 Gators are used extensively as outriders on vehicle patrols and are mounted up with MAG58 GPMG's...very quick and mobile.

You are asking me to get some photos...I will endeavour...as I am probably the worst photographer...I always forget to carry my camera.

I got a wave from a Disco driver a couple of weeks ago.

Unfortunately I was standing outside a snack bar eating a bacon and egg roll even though I am on a diet .... and the driver was my wife letting me know I was sprung big time.

Well I don't see a lot Series LRs, but a few Deefers and Counties and Disco's - I wave at most when I can - but I think I've only had one returned from drivers of any LR!

I know it's not a rock-hopper, but 2 ROCKS does not look like a Toorak Taxi, so...

And it's true, in the bush anyone, in anything will wave to anyone else!

Brown Rangie with a couple of disco's behind me and some defenders..near 10th light horse on wanneroo rd. Was on a landrover owners club new members trip. I must admit we both were traveling in different directions so it was a quick look wave!

Since the more hard-core ranks of Discovery and Range Rovers are mixed in with a certain number of soft-core, suburbanites who are oblivious to this essential protocol, is there any way we can make those model owners more recognisable on the road? Maybe a flag, or windscreen banner? Otherwise they are just going to have to wave first.

Im out there with a wave but, alas, nothing but looks of terror coming back.
Maybe because my Disco looks dead stock, but then again so do most of the LRs around my area.
I must be lacking some visual cred.
