B..nonimous, Good onya Mate!!!
It is people like you who we all need to challenge the narrow minded stupidity of the status quo in this country. Something that needs to be done........ continually!
Ron McGr...ADF Retiree.., you disgust me by the fact you didn't use your time in the military to learn to be tolerant...what a waste of time. Yes...you did manage to upset some...
I am a 5th generation immigrant to Australia..yes..the 1st one was a convict! In my life I have left the safe cocoon of Australia and I have seen the reality of life in Cambodia, Mozambique, Bosnia, East Timor, and currently, Afghanistan.
My wife and three of our children were born in Mozambique and they migrated to join me in Australia. They are now Australian citizens. Citizens to the point where my stepson has followed me into the Australian Military. None of them spoke English when they arrived at Tullamarine. My wife has gone on through university (paid for by ourselves) to follow her dream and become a Div 1 Registered Nurse in our health system.
I am white, along with two of our kids. My wife is black, along with three of our kids, and they are immigrants our country needs to be proud of. I served for 25 yrs in the Australian Army, from soldier to officer, going where I was I told, when I was told, and becoming a returned veteran of 3 x operational deployments. I have had to carry weapons to defend myself, and to clear landmines in three different countries, in the interest of our nation, and humanity.
It disgusts me to see the tripe written by people who for many, probably do not even understand how good their lives and existence are. They, who cast aspersion on our more recent immigrants, do not understand that they too, unless they are aboriginal, are the descendants of immigrants.
Our country is all the richer for the people who have come to these shores, and who risk so much, to make a better life for themselves and their kids. Get closer to some migrants and you might, if you could open you mind, find your miserable & complaining existence enriched some.
Ron McGr...we all await your reply.
