well done Phil, and best of luck.

I haven't looked back, even though at times I get pretty stressed etc it has all been worth it. I'm very fortunate that I really enjoy what I do aswell.

Im sooo relieved to read something of this nature. At the moment, I have decided to take some leave from Christmas, and from then on I dont have anyplans apart from trying to work for myself. BUT, what to do???? I feel at a loss as were to go, but im 100% sure as were not to go. I thought about doing some graphic design/web work, which im pretty good at, but I have other ideas as well. My biggest problem is that the bills need to be paid, so maybe starting off part time is the go.

Best of luck mate, I know how you and other feel right now.

    Congrats...

I had my "Early mid life crisis" as the wife puts it, 3 years ago...

Made a sea-change and moved from Adelaide to Whyalla and never looked back

I still work for someone else, but I feel better, get paid nicely and have a nicer overall lifestyle and outlook...

it's a brave thing to step off and become self employed, i moved here from NZ 7 years ago and started up from scratch, working out of my living room, almost went belly up twice, now have 7 full time staff and looking for more, two delivery vans and am moving into a new showroom, fully fitted out by my company, using my money, have never taken a loan, company runs off it's own cash flow.
still very scary, but a hell of a ride, i'm not a rich man but what i have is mine.

Go for it, I think everyone should be self employed at least once in their life..a big learning curve.
