Im must have done something right in a previous life....

for a day like today to happen I must have got it right at some point or other, Dont know what or when but I must have, everything that could go right did go right, and not just in that usual "hey that worked" kind of way but in the "hey not only did that work but I didnt have to swear at it, hit it, loose any skin for it or break out the oxy torch, I had all the parts I needed and they were all the right ones and the right number" kind of way...

half a dozen great pick ups at garage sales but the after noon, which had every right to go utterly pear shaped happened as tho Murphy had decided to take a day off. It all started when I went to help someone by moving their couch on the big green trailer... (well actually it started when alex woke me up by patting me on the shoulder from the side of my bed saying "daddy") that all went well enough and then SWMBO told me we needed to go pick up the sand pit she bought yesterday... so off we toddles to pickup the sandpit... it was then that dinner was thought about and sizzler was discussed and agreed upon even though they only have 1 spot i could possabley put the rover and trailer into. (theres alternative parking 500m away)

oh for one, for the entire day, not one red light and I didnt even have to gauge it back past 2nd gear to try to time them.... and for those of you who have travelled with me know that my luck with lights means adding at least 20 minutes to each journy that involves more than say 1 traffic light.

I pull in thinking this is just going to be a drive through off to the next parking spot... umm no, not only is every carpark that I cant use full, the ones I need are empty and the car thats in the spot that means I would actually have to think about how I park is just pulling out so its a straight drive up and im in position for a drive out after dinner... Sweet...

so were in position.. and we toddle into sizzler. theres no que, we walk in, walk up get served sit down, the time it took you to read that is the time it took for us to have alex in a high chair.

so we have the first go at the bar... Everytime I walked up to the bar Everything I wanted had just been put in fresh... If Id been trying to time it better I couldnt have. Just when I sat down after eating my salads I didnt even get time to finish thinking "gee this would be a great time for the cheese bread to turn up" and theres the waitress with a plate of cheese bread.... knock that off and of I toddles to make up the nacho thing I have between the bread and my steak and once again, all fresh all new, just put down, this time I clashed courses with the the waitress whos doing the refresh of the bar and well shes somewhat of a hottie.

Its at this point I decide to throw a MK I around and look at all the staff, yep all hot how cool is this, the only way this could be better is if I wasnt married they were naked and and... well lets just say Id get arrested in a hooters resteraunt at a gala sponsered by hugh heffner for what I was thinking... anyway I digress.. I sat down munched my nachos and was just about thinking you know if my sizzling steak turned up right about..... and theres a bloke on my right asking if he can clear my plates and a waitress holding a sizzling steak and a shrimp platter, thats out order.. 30 seconds later Im eating what is quite possabley the best steak Ive ever had bar none, to describe it as perfect would be a bit of an understatement. No fat, nice and juicey, cooked just right, right amount of trimmings and mushrooms, everything.. The only way it could be better was if.... no I cant tell you about that thought process, its a pg forum...

And alex how good was he? perfect, sat quietly, ate what we gave him didnt play with his food, when he wanted something he liked off of our plates he pointed to it and in most cases used he right word or as close as he new. We forgot to pack him a bottle so we gave him a proper cup to use didnt spill a drop... didnt make a mess with his ice cream waved at people, didnt sook it was just magic.

on the way home we needed to do some shopping so we rolled into coles with a few minutes to spare and the place was empty, alex had a ball, pushing the trolly, carrying groceries for us (SWMBO would pick something off the shelf hed grab it run it back to me, Id put it in the trolly and hed push it along a bit further till SWMBO grabbed something else then hed be off again)

since he was in a playful mood we took advantage and walked up the road to the video shop, grabbed some DVD's (when are they ever going to rename video shops to DVD shops?) and alex was saying "slides" which is cool about a K from the shop is a park where we normally take him when we pick up movies. so off to the park we doddles..

you know that parking trick I pulled at sizzlers? well I scored it again at the park... lots of little kids all polite and let alex take his turn on the slides, when he was climbing back up the ramp they let him be didnt try to push past or anything. waited for him on the slide the lot... plenty of parent theres who couldnt believe that hes only 18months old. so theres me pleased as punch.

got him home, bathed him and gave him a bottle and straight to bed to sleep.

    how good was my day...

    Probably never:

Video = short for Video Cassette or short for Digital Video Disc (DVD).

P.S. Re Alex - my youngest grand daughter has sometimes behaved that well - but not since she turned two in June!
