    Removing oil stains from concrete??

Being Land Rover owners, someone should know how to get oil stains off concrete. Had a Bobcat driving through the garage (which will also be our undercover entertaining area). It ruptured a hose, and there is a snail trail 400mm wide, and 7m long running through the garage. SHMBO is not happy. I have cleaned it with a Karcher high pressure washer, and some de-greaser, so there is no oil left. But the stains remain. Don't want to have to paint the floor if I don't have to.

    Thanks in advance,

    Ken

    Dust

I use cement dust. Sprinkle on and hose all off. But I do not use any other means first. It may be worth a try.

    Cheers

What a good question, its very hard to shift oil stains from cement, maybe a scrubbing brush and some petrol and then degrease again, I doubt you will actually move the stain fully, just fade it somewhat.

Ken you could try a cement wash after you've got most of the stain and oil up

or i can ask my neighbor what he uses to clean concrete before he grinds it

Doesn't sound like your problem to me.

Call the bobcatters and find out what they plan to do about it.

If is had pooled/puddled you can begin by getting some cheap kitty litter and chuck some boots on and grind the litter in. This will get rid of most of it but at leats excessive amounts of it.

Then for the rest a lot of people swear by just using a good quality dishwashing liquid and scrubbing it a little with a solid bristled broom (as the stain is big) or just a hand scrubber.

If I could of found the book called spotless which is some where in my house Shannon lush would probably saw bicarb and vinegar and rinse off with water.

After trying all other methods, use undiluted HCl. Don t breath the fumes!
