Happens all the time in the Uk, Nothing to do with you being male or female. And if you are not there they leave a note on your car tell you , you are a ****** for driving a 4x4
So after you get taxed left right and center, and work hard and are a law abiding citizen . You then get some tree hugging job less hippy telling you what car you should buy with your hard earned money . My answer to them usaully is two worded with the last word being off,
Here is some of the sort of crap you get in the UK

My Wife drives a Disco 2 and I drive the defender. WE haven't receved any abuse up in the hills but then why would you? If anything the arm gets a bit sore waving to people all the time.
About 6 months ago John Laws had a go at women driving kids around in the 4WD's on his radio show. My wife actually rang him up and gave him a serve and he actually apologised the arragant so and so! I didn't catch it on the radio at the time but probably wouldn't of raised an eyebrow either!

SWMBO was in the big smoke doing a course and another woman on it had a shot at her GU Patrol TD UTE,
"ooh, big bull bar and big 4wd for a little woman..."

Vickie politely pointed out the various dings in the bullbar from numerous roo strikes and how it had probably saved us from injury on more than one occasion, the battle scared tray from carrying all sorts heavy loads, but usually horse feed or parts for me when the 'fender is full, the tow bar for towing said horses and the two ropes tied to the headboard for the dogs.
God, it was dusty, filthy dirty and covered in bugs, it's the quintessential bush ute as gee wiz, we live in the bush

Said woman pulled her head in very quickly, but geez, how many brains does it take to see if something gets used for the purpose it was designed ??

Oh, and the little woman comment really ticked her off. As she'll tell anyone, she's five feet four and three quarter inches tall.
