    New Defender diff locks

    G,day.
Can you tell me if ARB diff airlockers can be fitted to the new Defender ?
Not interested in Maxi vacuum stuff even if it was available. Air is much more useful, as it can be used for a number of additional applications.

Giving one a bit of thought, eh.
Still the best looking 4x4 ever made.

You need your eye's tested man

You own a Disco and you think a Deefa is the best looking 4wd ever?

Theres a member on here who's Deefa is nicknamed Uggles 1 and his mates is Uggles 2 because they are Ugly.

Doesnt mean they are not the best 4wd around out of the box though and there is purpose to their design but I'd never go to the extent that they are in any way a good looking vehical.

But in answer to your question, Im pretty sure they are the same as D2 and P38a Diffs but Im not 100% on that but there shouldnt be a problem fitting airlockers as long as you can turn off the TC when they are in use.

I think you need to be careful with the new Defender and ARB'S and check.

I am pretty sure they will fit the early transit engined ones, BUT, apparently there have been a number of breakages of front shafts on them so they are changing the shafts and cv's shortly (or may have already). I dont know if there have been any changes to the diffs to accomodate this.

why do you need to turn the TC off when the difflock is in use?

The OL Diff Gaurd for the TD5 doesn't fit the 07 Rear diff - so they are different in some way.

Come to think of it, Im not really sure, Ive just had it drummed into me.

Im thinking that it may have something to do with the puter not sensing wheel slip but all it will sense is that all the wheels are traveling at the same speed so it shouldnt need to be disconnected.

I retract that comment and I will bring that up with the so called expert on the matter next time I see him lol

Nah, there is never really a time to turn the ETC off. When you're locked up, unless you're giving it some stick then the ETC just doesn't operate. It will activate sometimes when it senses some wheel differentiation when locked from the axles flexing.

Mcrover, I must admit that the shape of the Defender has a fantasy
    thingy for me.
I look at a Defender and the eyes glaze and the pulse quickens and I wave like mad !
I see into the distance and see Stanley stepping out to greet Livingstone,
I see Biggles, in the wilds of Sumatra, I see Frank Buck bringing them back alive, I see Richard Burton in his white Defender chasing bloody Romell,
round and round Tobruk, I see Nat Buchanon behind a mob, bush bashing
along the Murranji stockroute, I see Lennie out in the Gibson patting his
    still inflated BFG's.
More importantly, I see me on a nice spring day with aircon going, heading
into town to buy a cake and rent a DVD !
    What can I say.
The best looking 4x4 ever made.
    Cheers.

PS: The Disco will still be my number one vehicle even if I get a new
    Defender.
