We are lucky up in the Adelaide Hills. One of our main firebugs got caught a week ago. They lit over 50 fires over the last 2 years, sometimes 4 or 5 in one day.

The strange thing was when the police caught them, it turned out it was a 44 year old woman who lived at a farm in the area, and she often took her 2 and 4 year old kids with her when she was lighting the fires.

And to top it off, she was one of the organisers of the fire spotting volunteers .

Hope you get through without anything burning.

Sitting at the airport now Graz ready to go at a moments notice, hope we dont get anything today as it is just too hot to sit in the cockpit.
We have been busy this past week with the Helitacks, although the S61 is good to have along as it is making a big difference.

We've had small "bush" fires burning for days in a local reserve/park near us. Smell of smoke in the air for days, ash everywhere....helis up just before xmas, real PITA. If they are deliberately lit, and they catch the little ****s, they should douse the ****ers in petrol and light them up as an example to other would-be arsonists.

We've had our share the last couple od days as well, I agree, get some judge (from where?? to make an example of them), any appeals leads to doubling of sentence

Carine open space reserve, deliberately lit on Sat, we spent hours there dropping water to try and keep the heat and smoke down.
Now we have gone down to the Spectacles on Anketell Rd for the 3rd day running, also deliberately lit.
It looks like it is going to be a busy fire year ! I hope the arsonist who did the hills fires last year has had enough and isn't going to start up.

Just watching the news and they've reported sighting motorbike tracks next to the deliberately lit fires
Went to see mum Christmas eve and was redirected by police had to detour 50km out of the way to get there
Lock them up and throw away the key I say

That's the one I was on about. First night we saw it light the sky up and it was bush at the edge of the road burning next to the Red Rooster just off Marmion, but seemed as though the guys got that one sorted pretty quick? Then a new one went up in the park itself the next day, and that is still smouldering today!! Looked like 3 water carrying choppers + a news/non-emergency chopper there at one point.

My house was covered in ash for days, but we were a few k's away - I pity the poor sods living closer and in the smoke! Not to mention the fact you guys must have way better things to do with your time, and all the wildlife that would have got cooked!

Little ****ers who lit it should be torched with a blow lamp to see how they like it.
