    cheers
A mate of mine was sleeping it off in the back seat of his locked Cortina parked in the Amoco servo next to the Camp Hill pub. Police broke a window to wake him up, drag him out, and successfully charge him with drunk in charge. They had the gall to swear in court that they thought he was unwell and broke in to give him assistance then found he was drunk.

Another guy got p+$%ed in The Valley, had a blue with his cook who grabbed his keys and took the train home to Petrie. He was sleeping it off in the car with no keys but was still dragged out and charged with being drunk in charge even though the keys were twenty miles away.

And again, a friend drove up James St. New Farm from the Queen's Arms and into his driveway, less than two blocks away, closed the garage door and whilst walking down his driveway to close the gates, was accosted by two police who said they saw him leave a hotel and drive erratically away, and required him to take a breath test. Egg on faces, as he had stopped at the pub to buy a six pack and had not had a drink. The wallopers must have been parked somewhere handy looking for an easy pinch.

What worries me is that every time the judiciary widens the scope of these badly (vaguely ) worded laws the Police are only too happy to take advantage of a lack of fairness and logic to secure a conviction.
I find it highly offensive that in QLD I can be charged with drink driving in a public camping ground, whilst staying overnight and having a quiet barbeque, simply because my car is nearby and I have had two or three beers too many.
I am sure there are many other examples of people responsibly consuming alcohol who can be victimized by the CRAZY interpretation of these laws.

I totally agree that drunk drivers deserve everything that they get and should be kept off the road.

However it amazes me that the general public seem to accept no limit to loss of personal rights if it is deemed to be in the perceived (media driven) public interest.

you are not allowed to have a tv on whilst driving......yet....todays stereo
systems have a 7inch screen so you can watch dvds......
you have a screen for a reverse camera........
cars come with tvs built into the dash.......
and the gps is sitting on top of the dash......

all thats missing is a camera to see the road with......and we should be set......
we will be able to see where we are going during the commercial breaks.....
Yes, looking at a reversing monitor is illegal, however a reversing mirror is not, AND it has the same picture

No, well at least mine does not. How can looking at them be illegal if they met ADR's for motor vehicles and are installed to comply with the ADR's???

If I got charged with being near a vehicle I would fight it all the way, plus use any methods available to publicise it. If this is happening it is just plain stupid and you are better off taking the risk and driving home.
For you QLD and NSW guys this is worthy of a complaint to your Police Minister as it is convicting people of a criminal offence for actually doing the responsible thing and not driving.

Try stopping to look at your road atlas in Sydney and Melbourne (nearly 1/2 of Oz's pop.), trying to find a parking spot is as easy as winning Lotto, double park and someone will run into or over you and the first cop that sees you will book you. Traffic in Sydney and Melbourne will not patiently sit and wait for you to get yourself unlost, with the lack of visible street name signs, finding a street off a main road can be frustrating and dangerous, More power to Sat Nav IMHO, Regards Frank.

    Mine do.
The very same picture but much more of it in the monitor

Most monitors these days can reverse images and flip them, if you want to hang it from the roof.

This is like when they banned fishing rod holders on the front roo bar of 4wds, how many were actually killed by them? or maybe some kid scraped one while he skating down the foot path and went bum up, what about the people who hang religious stuff of the inside mirrors and all sorts of other dangly things, some people dont clean the inside of there screens from one year to the next, the police are not really vigilant with this sort of thing as a rule, crikey I see heaps of people not wearing belts, children not restrained, dogs jumping everywhere, its a crazy old world we live in.
