    As a direct replacement?
I am debating this very thing ATM. I'll need a diesel for touring so it's; weigh up the TD5vTDI Disco (anybody seen that thread?) but the jury's still out. Otherwise I'd look at 4.2TD in either a Toyo or a Nissan (same-same really). But that would be boring and well it would be boring.

Won the lotto on the weekend?
A Mog, fitted out with a house on the back, pulling a trailer with Sierra with everything, and an R100GSPD (before they got too porky) and say an XT/DR/KLR650 whatever for her.

And I'd cover them all with stickers from remote locales!

I'd consider one of those forward control dual cab nissan trucks... but I'd prefer a Gee vagen

I'm with you on this one.

Except that I'd be constantly whinging about the poorly supporting seats, the wasted space, the ... (list abridged), ... the, oh whatever else I feel like (and there's a lot when I'm not in a LR)

mmmm, I could possibly be tempted by something big. But it's have to be big, as in a whole, discrete, step up in size. But that's only a maybe for a maybe.

hang on, why am I thinking about this? has someone gone and pinched the SIII?

No way would i be buying a nistoy whatever, as Mcrover an inter scout with removeable hardtop would be fun. For a family wagon a subie outback would suit at the moment.

I would say a GU Patrol. I would probably take the 4.2 over the 3.0 due to the problems that were had with the 3.0 engine.

Would have to go for a Pinzgauer or a Volvo 303 to replace the trusty 101FC GS

79 series RV tray back, the 1HT-FTE's are, well, Fantastic

But would need to be converted to a 5 speed auto from a 100 series

And air bag the ass end

Can't say factory lockers are a bad thing, better than traction control

A Ford Bronco either with a 351, Auto with a 200L LPG tank in the rear (like the last one) or with the Perkins 6 with an Auto, great off-road, look great and go like a scalded cat, easy and cheap to repair and maintain and don't cost a bundle to buy, Regards Frank.
