    4WD Australia insurance

Just like to know if any member is dealing with TCIS insurance company and if they are happy about it.
Looking for a insurance company that provides cover for accessories, extras and off road cover. This people provide it but...........I do not know how good are they.

Were with Aust 4wd insurance brokers who sell the CGU 4wd insurance.

Other than a few pages of paper work which was a little annoying and a problem with my previous insurer not faxing me an official letter stating my rating it was pretty much straight forward and several hundred $ cheaper due to it being more streamlined to our usage rather than a basic all size fits all type thing was how it was explained to me.

I have no idea what they are like to claim through as I try not to stack my car but I dont think any of them ever want to pay out in an accident.

I only recently changed to TCIS, just before christmas, so I can't give feedback regarding claims. I can say - considering the agreed value & cover for legal modifications as well as off road coverage it is worth the extra premium for peace of mind (for me). My premium is near $1300 (sydney), but before I had no cover for mods & cover only for gazetted roads, no beach cover. To get the discount you should be a member of a recognized 4 wheel drive club.

Thanks for the info. I will ask them this week for a quote. I am annoyed with my insurance which did not want to cover the fridge which is permanently monted in the Disco for shopping as well as camping.

This is interesting, in their page said [Quote] Full Off Road Cover
We have no limitations of any kind in our policy. You are covered whilst on the beach, crossing a river, at Cape York or in the middle of the Simpson Desert.[Quote]

I think that I have to read the small print very carefully

I am with these too, have been since I bought the Disco 5 years ago. 5 months after I bought it I had to claim due to someone running into me at a roundabout with a Landcruiser.

The bill came to $8.5k, but was taken care of. When you claim, you do not claim on the broker, you have to claim on CGU. I just found it took a while before I got my $200 excess back, as I was the innocent party.

Hey Cucinadio! I've had a quick read of my policy. Was it because of being on a course/competition track? An exclusion for cover exists for that and driver training which IMHO should be covered without question. It seems that notifying your intention to do either of these things to TCIS will keep everything in order but will probably have an impact on the premium!

yhea mate that was the reasoning!!, "but we wernt on one" but we allso couldn't prove "we wernt!!!!"that was the finite of it all, so be carefull boys it's all in the proof and the fine print, but hey its al good they might be fine now this was back in 2003

    cheers

I deal with TCIS and so far they have always been great. I have an Allianz policy through them on my D2. I have previously had CGU policies and the one time while insured by them (after 5 years of the same policy !) when I need to make a claim against a vehicle which was written off, it took them 8 weeks and the threat of legal action to make the payout happen. By comparision Allianz have always got on with the process if I have needed to make a claim. For me this is about the insurance company and not the broker. TCIS, like any broker just make it easier to obtain a policy that comes as close as possible to matching the needs for the policy holder with what's on offer. If the insurance company is a pain to deal with they will be regardless of broker or not.

    Just my two cents worth...
