I don't normally reply to these types of threads, as no two people's opinion will be the same, and it seems that there are some out there in ether-net land that get upset if you have a different thought from theirs.

So Rovercare, please feel free to cruise on past, as no doubt we would have a difference of opinion on recovery techniques, and you would get upset when we didn't do it your way.

As my better half said, it was her opinion that she prefers Land Rovers for their longevity, charisma, history and the comaraderie of the type of people who seem to drive Land Rovers.

It's my opinion that straight out of the box, any make of Land Rover (excluding Freelander), would leave all Jap crap for dead in what they were designed to do, which is to get from point A to point B over rough terrain.

Notwithstanding this basic fact, I do not like Jap ****. Everything they have made, they have either stolen, or were given the patents at the end of the second world war. I do not like it when a Jap vehicle parks on my driveway. My acquaintances have been informed of this, and they park in the road. If I possibly could, I would not have anything Japanese in my house.

Despite this, I would never refuse or cruise on by any make of vehicle in distress, either in the bush, or on the road, as anyone who has been bush with my family, would I am sure, attest to. There have been numerous occasions where we have assisted or controlled the recovery of perfect strangers. Maybe we should follow the Bushido code and just "cruise on by".

I was not amused when, many years ago, we bought an old Army Jeep ... Tony sold it! I have never let him forget it!

We have alsol been driving my brother's Alfa Romeo for the past 6 months, my God it's a superb sports car! We have the best of both worlds, & both extremes. It's so wierd driving the Alfa at remarkable speeds, which holds the road like you wouldn't believe, then driving the SIII. Being a typical female, I have the choice of the Range Rover when I feel like a bit of luxury, the Alfa when I have the need for speed, and the SIII when I want to get back to basics! (Me, moody, never ). Ah what a life. Just need a Triumph or Ducati, then I'll be in seventh heaven. Oh, and of course a Hummer. Damn shame they're so expensive here. Aren't dreams wonderful things?

This Is what I can't fathom, where did the Rover V8 derive from, Isuzu diesel, the removal of Lucus rubbish and replacement with Bosch, I mean most things are stolen, bought patents etc..........but to actually not let a Japanese vehicle park in your driveway??

Your telivision, computer, microwave, almost all ellectronics are asian made, maybe you should do without these aswell?

Though having said that, I do believe in the whole that LR drivers are definately more tolerant and respectful of other peoples choices. Ultimately, 4WDers are all brothers and sisters and the "enemy" isn't each other but those that choose to detract from our choice of vehicle and lifestyle ie greenies, government departments, ignorant idiots who believe our vehicles contribute to this, that and whatever.
    Stevo,

I would quite cheerfully say, the enemy is the brainless idiots, usually in jap 4WD's, who tear up beaches, tracks, generally make a nuisance of them selves and leave a mess behind them.

Those are the A**holes who give the rest of us a bad name and start all the anti 4WD rubbish.

    Cheers,

A group of them were coming down a hill (which at that stage, wasn't too steep), as we were coming up. I think the vehicle in question either took the wrong line (though I still fathom to see how he could have overturned), or more likely, I think he was a bit inexperienced and just panicked. Poor bugger sat in the vehicle the whole time it was being recovered, think he was a bit shaken up. Apparently it was a new vehicle, from memory I believe it was about 8 months old. Don't think it was insured either!

In any case, at least it was driveable once upright.

Ok From the photos it looked like their was a track, and then it had driven up the bank for no apparent reason. Photos always are difficult.
