A couple of years ago a local boy was speared through the leg with a stick - up through the floor of a Jap ute. Few if any vehicles would have designs to exclude penetration of the floor by hard objects. Any metal skin of standard weight could be penetrated by a stick striking end-on with sufficient force. In the local case it was the branch of a felled tree not noticed in scrubby regrowth.
