    110 2007 repayments

I am starting to itch for a new shiny 2007 Defender.
Whent down to Landrover Cape Town to snif around.
Salesman gave me some prices and worked out the re-payments as below.
Just for interest sake, can you guys with the new 110 give me an idea what the same would cost over there?
I have converted to Aus $ below to make it simpler.

    Cash Value 110 S.Wagon: Rand 354K including 14% VAT AU$ 56,9K
Repayments over 5 years no deposit R8,500/month AU$1,336

We are planning to get R58K for the wifes VW and R30K for the SerIII
now we will have to see if we have enough to bring repayments down and still have just enogh for a bread and jam sandwich to share with the kids.
Might just be pie in the sky at the moment but no harm in dreaming.
    Cheers
    James

    Your'e not alone!!

I priced up a new 110 just before Xmas here in NZ, $65,000. We only get the full SE spec, the 1st shipment sold out in a couple of weeks, next shipment is due about now, $72000! I said to the salesman, 'why the 10%+ increase when the exchange rate has barely moved?', his reply, 'because the demand in the market says we can!' of course, you know what has happened to the prices of late model Td5's, people are trading up and getting their purchase price as a trade in! The dream is getting further away!

Why doesn't LR make Defenders in SA to sell in this part of the world? With the better exchange rate of the rand they would be cheaper in OZ and NZ. Pat

The price on that LR website doesn't include other costs (dealer delivery, stamp duty etc), which will add up to a few grand ... so we'll probably still be cheaper over here, but perhaps not as much as you think.

Hope that makes you feel a bit better.

I was quoted close to 55k on the road. Repayments, we didn't get that far. Personally I think you could build up a nice 300tdi or TD5 with a 6 speed for that, then you wont have that bloody plastic fantastic dashboard.

    A quote for a Defender 130 dated 04/1/08
    Vehicle $ 50990
    Stam Duty 1530
    Dealer/delivery $ 2750
    Registration $ 272.05 (Queensland)
    CTP insurance $ 272 (Queensland)
Total cost on road $ 55814.05

To make it legal to be on the road a tray have to be fitted as minimum requirement. Another $ 2000 ?
