the good ol engel.......problem or normal.......?

on my last trip.....my engel (40l) would only pull down as low as -11deg......
it made no difference if it was running on 240vac or 12vdc.......

just wondering how low others get down to.......

we had a tub of icecream in there........but it was really on just cream......
ice cream needs to be around -18deg........to stay ice.......

    as a fridge........its fantastic....not a single problem.........

Mine has been as low as -24deg c. I cranked it up empty once just to see how low it would go, then filled it with containers of water to make block ice. Took 24hrs to freeze to ice solid. It should be able to freeze. The biggest trick with any car fridge/frezzer is to get it to temp on 240v first and then add cold or frozen items, seems to keep the temp better.

carefull there zook we don't want to go giving that wacoe mob any more ammo than they already have

my older style 32L had a similar problem in that the compressor would not cycle off when the dial was turned around to max, i backed it off a bit and it started to cycle and pull down a couple of more degrees.....i too had icecreams onboard.....don't really understand why but it suits me.....bac it off and it gets colder

Hahahaha an Engle with a problem, I might go to an Engle repair shop and count the number of broken Engles lol

I'd be saying it would either be a control problem as weeds says or it could need a regas I would say but Im no expert.

The Engle system is much simpler than the Wacko design but ours look so much better lol.

I've had my 40lt down to about -22 deg. Generally don't run it as a freezer though. I was just testing it.

Mine was inside running on 240 V and in one of those thermal bag thingies.
It was loaded with plastic bottles of water.

    What was the ambient temp?

I take mine outside once a year and blow a bit of air though the back to make sure there there's no dust or spiders collecting. First time I got a heap of dust. Thankfully no spiders yet...

mines the anniversary one......the one that came out with the temp display on the front next to the temp control knob.......

bought the icecream to have with pancakes.....but it was just too soft to enjoy......so i threw it out.......
    ambient temp....no idea.......
it was this time last year......we were at nambucca heads.......
and the fridge was in the shade in the car.......with the back door left wide open.....
and it was running on 240vac......and when checked in the morning.....was only down to -11 deg.....

it will freeze water without a problem as that only needs to get below zero to freeze.......
