WHat an opportunity ! Good stuff.
I had a unique experience today that I thought I would share. My boss recently aquired a new 200 series Saharah and has been most disapointed with it. From the start because I'm a landrove nut and a sh*t stirrer I've been saying he should have gotten a Sport TDV8. Well after being disapointed with the Saharah hes been out test driving a number of high end 4wd's including the Toureg V10TD but has finally settled on the Vouge TDV8 (Sports to small). He has been given the Demo model as a loan over night and a few of us have spent the last couple of hours test driving his Saharah and the demo Vouge.
A few conclusions we found were:
- Saharah is faster than the Vouge from both standing start and rolling start
- Vouge has better brakes (Brembos look sexy) in regards to both feel and performance
- Vouge looks sh*tloads better, not like an obese Rav 4/ Klugger
- Vouge has more gadgets and toys (TV, Terrain response etc) where as Saharah only has Kinetic Suspension (primative version of ACE IMO) and a flash reversing camera system that stand out
- Both were on par with road noise IMO
- Vouge switchgear was a bit of a let down in some places esp powerwindows compared to saharah.
- Vouge has a bigger fuel tank! (Kinetic suspension means you cannot get a sub tank)
- Even the die hard Toyota nuts agreed they would take the Vouge at the end of the day (how could you not!)
So we had an evening of fun but when I got home I realised it'll be a long time or never before I can afford a Vouge
Cheers

Beat me to it!
Oddly enough, a lot of RR owners spell Vogue as Vouge - I even had one register on the RRNET forum with Vouge (it wasn't deliberate he had Vouge in his sig line, too).
Did you know that Sahara means desert?. So Sahara Desert is a tautology - it means Desert Desert!(That's one meaning - another is that it derives from the a word meaning ocean.)

My bad. Can see I'm only a disco owner. Quite sad seeing as I even spellchecked a few words
.
One thing is I still dont see is how the Toyotas faster seeing as its slightly heavier but only has 10 more NM from what I can see and 5 less kw. I thought on a standing start due to the larger capacity it might have more torque down lower but even on the rolling starts there was a noticable difference.
I have noticed and it might be just my imagination, but my 07 TDV8 RR does seem to be a tad slower off the mark than my 03 RR D6 was, but once up and running, it’s heaps faster to 100 kph than the 03 ever was.
Stuee, what’s the weight of the Sahara, my 03 RR was 2.5T but the 07 is 3.2T.
I’ve seen a few posts on other sites where even the Toyota dealers don’t seem to be too impressed with the 200.
Cheers.
Turbo lag on both vehicles was very apparent. You dump the accelerator and little buzz boxes are already a meter or two in front.
I just looked in the back of a 4wd Australia magazine but from looking just then on the net the kerb weight is 2720 and gvm of 3300.
The dealer principal which this Sahara was organised through says Toyota has stuffed up big time and in his opinion sales will drop. When the deposit was paid (a few months prior to release) the boss was promised air suspension and most of the stuff now reserved for the Lexus. The biggest annoyance to the boss was lack of second fuel tank on the Sahara TD. As he still goes touring and that with it it was quite important and fuel economy was no where near what Toyota claimed. For such a big named vehicle it is quite a let down IMO. Not the same tough bush truck as thew 100 series and not as good on road as other highend softroaders (yes its soft IMO) and I cant see it being any good off road due to lack of ground clearance.
