    North Straddie vs Morton

    Not sure which island to do later in the year. We have done Fraser so just looking for something a bit closer and know both are no where near the size of Fraser.

    1. What's Straddie like is there a little off roading to be done on the inland tracks?

    2. Or would Morton be the go?

    Only looking at about 3 or 4 nights and then 4 nights back on the Gold Coast and then back home so only a short break.

    Personally, I'd go Moreton....

    * Quieter
    * Less developed
    * More 4WDriving

    4WDriving on Straddie is pretty limited. You can drive down main beach to the southern tip and do the Pylon Track inland but that is about it.

    Don't know Morton, but agree that there's very little 4wd-ing left on (Nth) Straddie. Most tracks have been closed for rehabilitation, or are locked off and for MVO (fire access). I don't know if Hema have updated their map, but I alerted them to the significantly altered situation back in 2002.

    Moreton. And grab the little Dirty weekends guide book to Moreton Island ( a smaller boook thats dedicated only to Moreton). A good read and tells you all the places you can go etc.

    In fact, I;m going there this weekend !!!

    Enjoy !!!!

    I'll go against the trend here. Moreton would also be my preference, but for 3-4 days, you'll find it very expensive.

    Cheers
