that's plain old bad luck mate, really hope the damage doesnt set you back too much.
condolences!
Ok heres the facts
The quarry is not part of Awaba State Forest and is actually classified as private property to be hired out by the Forestries. Therefore your insurance claim may or may not be approved due to you not gaining permission to be on that land. If your insurance company like mine needs to accertain you had permission to drive on this property this thread may create a headache for you. Personally I'd be getting a mods to delete this thread.
dont panic about the ECU's getting wet them is pretty much water tight....
relays, switches and motors will be the PITA.
Id suggest that your engines water ingress point is either the vactuator valve not sealing as its gotten bittle with age and now instead of acting like a one way valve when its in water (keeping water out) its acting like a venturi and streaming it in like a carburetta does for fuel on a petrol engine or the seals where the snorkle go through the body work are not up to speed.
If its properly hydrauliced Pray very very hard that its the vacutuator valve as the engine will not have gotten an instant uncompressable load of water in one pot but a gradual increase to the point where the water snuffs out the flame front on initial propagation.... If thats the case then the engine is salvagable.
If on the other hand your seals on the intake are shot and its sucked in a belly full of water then more than likely at a bare minimum your head is not going to be happy at you. I wont go into further details as they'll just depress you further.
on the non mechanical side of things.... theres a hand full of show stoppers
from any number of relays to all the connectors even the emergancy cut out switch might have done it...
this is how you want to hope its happened.
1. something electrical has stopped the engine
2.as the whole thing was under water he water has filled the engine from the exhaust and soaked into the airfilter while it was all under
3. when youve gone to restart it youve come up onto the hydraulic efffect so naturally it cant be started.
Good luck with the insurance... most of them have a clause that will get them out of most claims when 4x4ing and that is that you must operate the vehicle only on tracks and roads that are identifiable on comercially available maps. Which means screw the pooch on private property OR on a beach and your shot.
can you give us a description of how it stopped all of a sudden with a sickening crack or did it struggle, try to go and then die or did it shut down like it always does when you turn the key off?

Dobbo Don't be a bearer of bad news the guy would be hurting about now

I guess you didn't read my post is it a td or an 8 either way she sounds stuffed
sorry to hear about that mate and hope the insurance pays out
