    SOG Defender

On the front page of the Geelong Advertiser today there is a Armored Defender, I have never seen one before they usally get around in patrols.
Anyone have any further info on it, are they common in other states ????.

Not in Aus I realise, but there were lots of armoured Land Rovers operating in Northern Ireland during "The Troubles"

I'll enquire from Tuesday. She rarely gets out, as the response vehicles for the SOG are Toyota Land Crusiers GXL spec with full roof racks, steel rear bars etc. She looks pretty old and weathered but I'll see if I can get within 20 yards

I've seen it at a siege or two. It's a bit heavy for an off road vehicle (due to armour) and said to be slow by the crew. It would make a good collectors (museum) or movie prop vehicle, but it'd be too expensive to sort it out for touring or 4WDing.

    G'day Folks

Looks like the rear of a "Courtlands" CAV vehicle, first saw one at the washed-out RAAF airshow at Amberley in 1994, the descretly armoured Range Rovers and Discoverys look quite normal from a distance.
You can buy these vehicles from such places as Witham specialist Vehicles in the UK, but I don't think you could import easily unless one was in the security business, or similar

    cheers
