    Unhappy Oh the Pain

Anyone ever had an ingrown toenail ? I got one right now and it feels like someone has takin to my toe with a hammer .And it's been rubbing on my shoe's as well and driving me nuts . I prefer to have a good gash or something broken than this

Cut out a V in the centre, the nail should slowly start to grow in the centre and not so much on the outer sides. When the nail finaly clears the toe keep the trim strait and don't cut too short. Leave the ends out.

Old wives thing, worked for me. Easo

stop whining like a girl and just get it ripped out,,

then in a couple of days (when the bleeding stops and the gause bandage has congealed on the raw nail bed) the nurse will rip the bandage off to change it---

    then you can whine

3 panadol forte, 2 beers, a sharp scalple and a small screwdriver will fix it....

    You have my sympathies.

    HAVE IT REMOVED IMMEDIATELY

Take care of yourself, ingrown toenails (whilst they sound trivial) are seriously excruciating experiences! Go to the podiatrist at once!

I've had 3 so far and going in to have another one done in a few weeks. Only issue is the $300 or so to have them done, if someone could anaesthetise my foot, I'm sure I could do it myself

If you aren't convinced, read on:
    ________________________________

I decided to ignore one for six weeks thinking it would subside. It didn't - it kept growing deep down until it had almost cut through to the other side. Each day an "airbag" of pus would form, a constant discharge of blood, saturating my sock. The toe became red hot and developed a severe infection - the podiatrist wouldn't touch it until the infection was gone - this took three weeks on medications. By the time surgery was underway the nail was so deeply bogged the surgeon had no choice but to cut the surrounding skin away and restitch it. The skin had grown over the entire nail plate. It then took a further week until the foot could have a load placed on it. Due to improper weight distribution, the two neighbouring toes got a flogging - damage to the metatarsal shafts then follow, and my foot ended up walking on a massive angle - requiring a human "caster correction" operation.

This was week one when I should have had it seen to:

It was ten weeks of pure hell. Moral: never ignore an ingrown toenail

I suffered for years with ingrown toenails. Every two to three weeks i had to get stuck in with the hobby scapel and pliers and prefrom a little home surgery.

I found an excellent podiatrist who recommended a wedge resection. Basically they remove the excess skin from either side of the nail, reshape the nail and remove the nail bed from the bone so the nail only grows straight and flat.

It was one of the most painful operations i have ever had. I had a knee recon a couple of weeks before and it had nothin on the pain of two big toes sporting 12 stiches each...Good new is one year later my nails have never been better and i havent had a hint of an ingrown nail since. Best $750 i ever spent...

I have some gory photos somewhere...i'l dig them up...

    i do the same thing

i've had my nails pulled twice now and that long needle that they push under your nail to the back of the toe hurts

but seeing them pics hurts even more
