    Nissan Patrol Zd30

Whilst Looking at some of the Other Forums and marques and seeing what everyone else talks about other than Rovers , I stumbled accross this Thread , Someone obviously has no sense of humour when it comes to joking about the Nissan patrool Zd30 engine when one of the Forum members posted up a Picture of a ZD30 + LPG Gas = Nuclear Explosion

    Thumbs down

Nissan haven't had a decent engine in the Patrol for a long long time now. Very sad state of affairs.

4.2 litre petrol was thirsty and the current 4.8 litre petrol has even more ferocious thirst.

4.2 diesel a slug and the 4.2 TD is a bit lethargic still, unless big ticket mods are fitted. Even then, cooling the beast remains a challenge.

2.8 litre turbo diesel a bit too small and puny. Cracked heads can happen.

3.0 litre Nissan Skyline engine OK, but not good for towing.

3.0 litre ZD30 melts pistons despite the later "fixes"

The latest 3.0 CRD is very thirsty, which is quite surprising.

    What's up with Nissan?

Interesting information BUT, the TD42 factory turboes, need only pump adjustments to make it rocket along and are solid as a rock

Also the 3l CRD is good for about 13l/100, bloke at work has one....................we're just waiting till it blows up

whenever i hear the usual " landrovers are unreliable and always breakdown" from a jap owner i always throw back the ZD30 - that shuts them up.

I agree .. I looked long and hard at a 4.2TD Patrol. They are top units and are indestructible .. in stark contrast to the ZD30

    Nissan 4.2TD?

I'm looking at the same vehicle for various reasons. They have a pretty good rep. and have another ex LR owner recommend them highly.
    Happy motoring.
    Alan.
