I was under the impression that when a parcel is sent trough UPS in USA it is delivered by UPS Australia or a courier company not associated to the Australian Post.
Doing the tracking first I logged in ups.com where I was able to track the parcel from the time that left the shop to the time that left USA by San Francisco on the 9/2/08 5.22 am
After that……..kaput, the parcel is not any more in the hands of UPS by what UPS Australia said. “It is not our number sir, call Australian Post”
Rang Australian post “that parcel is not in Australia sir” and when landing it can take 2 days to 2 weeks, depending on Customs”
So there you go, parcel is not delivered door to door in 7 days or so.
Then again…I just wonder if p38arover purchasing ability is not contagious?

Oh well mate if they have my luck it is going to be a agonizing wait.
On the top of that the axles are coming in a different shipment.
The only good think is that my vehicle is a Disco and not a Defender so it can handle without those other special diff locks that the boys are fitting in their rigs
( here we are going again, two possibilities, one they are going to reply with a ton of bricks or they rather keep the key board quitebloody Chucaro)
Ok, after more enquirers I find out that the parcel it is not coming by UPS and that Australian Post informed me incorrect, it is not one of their parcel.
The parcel come by UPSS (UPSS Systems, Multi Carrier Packaging and Shipping Software.) and it is all ready cleared Customs in Oz on the 11/2
A good learning exercise for the ones like me that never done thiese type of deals before.

To search log in on upss,com and enter the reference number. Eventually when the data base is updated the screen will tell you where it is.
In my case cleared Customs 11/2 @ 12.58 pm
Ok, what happens next?
UPS Australia do not have nothing to do with it as we ascertain it before.
UPSS does not have a contact number in the web.
Log in again in the Australian Post site, enter the number and nothing happens
As the last resource I rang again Australian Post even if they said yesterday that they do no know nothing about the parcel.
Result: Yes sir, the parcel is on his way to Qld
So do not even bother to search in the Australian Post site, do all your search on upss.com and then ring Australian Post to find out where is.
I'll be interested to see how this pans out, as often when things are sent via the US couriers (UPS, Fedex, etc) you will be charged brokerage, duty and GST fees on entering Oz, regardless of price.
This tends not to happen when sent US Post (USPS, not to be confused with UPS/United Parcel Service) for items under the $1000 threshold. US Post is usually a lot cheaper, too.

UPS (United Parcel Service) is a private sector courier company. Not to be confused with USPS (United States Postal Service), the post office. I import machine shop supplies and precision tools from the USA and exclusively use the post office. UPS and Fed Ex are staggeringly expensive in comparison. Example: I sourced two special sealed beam units for OEM fog lights on a 1940 Buick, value US$28. I requested the supplier to send them air-mail by the post office. He sent them FedEx, cost A$125. Post would have been US$25.
My understanding is that items sent post office to post office and under A$1000 are generally not subject to Customs Duty, GST, and other charges, but just come to your address in the mail, but all items sent by commercial carrier are subject to Customs charges. Air mail generally takes 5-7 days from New York to Brisbane. There is no longer a surface mail service from USA. They eliminated this service on 14/5/2007 on three days notice (the weekend). Fait accompli. Surface mail was considerably cheaper but took 8+weeks. I had all stock lines and heavy items shipped surface mail. This change has meant considerable price rises on some lines which now have up to 40% of the landed cost in air mail charges.
