Do you run over snakes?

Hello all,i,m pretty sure that in the early days of australian settlement,that deaths from red bellied black snakes were fairly common.remember that snake numbers were a lot higher in the 1800,s,.and snake hunting drives were a common occurence with some rich land holders offering bountys on them.one story that i have seen was a heiress or simular organising a hunting party around the Bathurst area,the mob went out and got about 450 snakes,the problem was the old box brownie or what ever the cameras were back then was forgotten so no pic:o,so another hunting party was organised but was a dissapointment as only about 350 snakes were killed,there are photos around of this somewhere.

Sorry Grizz, getting back to your original question "Do you run over snakes?"......No I dont :)

No I would not run over a snake deliberately. As said I would not swerve dangerously to miss one either, but if possible would avoid running them over.
All snakes are more scared of you than you are of them ,but can become aggressive if agitated or have no means of escape.
Generally black snakes will not kill you and are generally regarded as harmless. However if you are bitten by any snake you should report to a hospital with a description of the snake if possible. It is still rare to see deaths from any snake bit in Australia, however people react differently to the neuro toxins so what is harmless to one may be fatal to another so always off to a hospital.
Snakes left alone are fine and most people are bitten trying to kill or capture them. I will only kill them as a last resort if they are endangering peoples well being.
We get heaps of dugites, tigers and browns down this way and recieve calls nearly every second day around the site and the camp.
They are in fact beautiful creatures, given the chance.

Nah, I don't run over snakes.

But, if you want to lay it out in the street I'll give it a go. No guarantees that I don't flatten some of the rest of ya.

Hey steve depends on where you live determins wether you will have black snakes to eat the brown snakes,if you live on a farm with not much water round you will most likely encounter browns instead of blacks.Black snakes tend to live closer to water down in the gullies,while browns rather the hot dry climates.About that brown snake what nearly attact your sun i can fully understand.

Not so far. We do get Browns every year but I haven't seen any yet. We have the hiding spots but the neighbours have the food.

I do seem to be hitting a lot of birds these days:angel:.

I see plenty of dead ones about, snakes are like sharks and crocs, they stay out my back yard i stay out theres, particularly with sharks, never swam in sea water in 40 years, Jaws did irrepairable damage as a youngster! Just as Annaconda did for snakes
