    Long Term Compo

Oh woe is me. Having been off work since the New Year with a torn tendon in my right shoulder, I finally got to see the specialist today. The verdict.......I'm for the knife, and with rest and recuperation (physio etc) should be back at work by the end of June. Just as well as I'm off for 6 weeks rec leave in July for the Madigan trip.

Trouble is, when it comes, it will be difficult to go back, knowing I only have a couple of years to go until retirement.

Life can deal some savage blows.

NM, buy him a remote controlled Range Rover, set him up outside and keep a spare battery on charge... perfect distraction.

Well the first thing you need to do is cancel your rec leave and bring your trip dates forward. Then get Mrs Numpty to drive

    Hi Numpty
I had the misfortune of loosing almost 2 years of my life due to a work back injury.Eventually I got good enough to get a job again,as a lollypop holder on the shire!!!!,nearly 5 years later and Ive climbed the heap to one of the best jobs on the shire, construction grader operator. The back is nowhere near 100% but I cope.
The best advice I can find is get yourself a GOOD physio and get a pool workout sorted. Its low impact, painfree, and maintains your fitness/stamina,once you loose muscletone you go downhill pretty quick.Workers comp should cover it(and your travelKs)as long as you sort it with your GP/Physio first.
I was doing 2 hours a day in the pool 3 days a week with a 90km round trip.

Interesting stuff. Work cover have given me a claim number, at the same time informing me that they haven't approved my claim yet

I get your point Andy, but I never was a swimmer, have done many thousands of k's in a kayak though, and that's what I'm missing the most, all those early mornings on the local river with the birds, fish and platypus. I am already doing some physio, albeit just to keep movement in the shoulder, and once the ops out of the way will be into it properly. After all, it is my future which depends on it.
