Fraser Island
I heard today that following all of the storms that we have had of late up here in SE Qld Fraser Island has suffered quite badly from the weather etc
Couple of points:
- Ocean Lake has broken through and is flowing into the Ocean similar to Eli Creek
- North Nakala (sp) track has about a 3 metre drop to the beach
- There is a pond on the Indian Head bypass near the phone booth which is about headlight depth
- There is a pond on the track across to South Waddy
- The rocks are exposed at Connors Corner
Must nearly be time for another Fraser trip

Wow must have been ripper storms for Ocean Lake to be running to the sea. It was about 500m-1km to the lake off the beach if I recall.
Sounds like things might be a bit more perilous around the island. Wonder if the number of lost vehicles will increase?

Sounds bad in spots, might keep the dumb-witted backpackers away and prevent any more 4WD's becoming permanant land fixtures as well.
I remember Ocean lake is a fair way in, must have chewed up the beach something chronic

The track into the lake is a fair way in, but I believe further up the beach it actually comes our fairly close to the beach, not certain where exactly it has broken through

Rainbow beach has suffered badly also - its impossible to drive to Double Island Point from Rainbow via the beach at any tide.
Also, the Cherry Venture has reappeard, after it was supposedly demolished and removed (all the steel which was below the sand has been exposed)
I havent seen it this bad in 20 years. The sand eventually comes back however...........

Just came back from Orchid Beach on Monday. First time in years.
There was a pond at Indian Head - it was up to the bumper (my 110's higher though).
I went though a deep pond at Waddy Pt by accident (didn't look deep - didn't check) that went over the bonnet.
Doesn't Ocean Lake flow out to the beach by Orange Creek?
great spot up there.
