From my observations of 4WD rolled over write-offs at auctions, they are mostly a diagonal roll-over pivoting over the front left corner and damaging that corner and the LH roof. I reason this to be from going too quickly into roundabouts.

Going into a roundabout at a speed that would result in a roll over should be an offence where they remove the drivers licence permanently. It was obviously a speed too great to be able to stop and give way to other motorists.
What I do know about rollovers in high centre of gravity vehicles is that it only takes a loss of directional stability as in: a fishtail swerve; being sideswiped; or as often seen of those Police type videos where they use the "pit maneouver". The potential to roll is only made worse by long travel springs and soft suspension.
Only this week on the UK show "Road Wars" the no 1 crash was a roll over of a Ford Explorer. The scenario was a car entering a motorway, a driver in the affected lane making a sudden lane change, probably with the FE in the "dead spot" of the mirror, the driver of the FE avoiding the lane change and overcorrecting when she hit the gravel. You guessed it a diagonal roll over.

You won't find me on: faceplant; Scipe; Infragam; LumpedIn; ShapCnat or Twitting. I'm just not that interesting.
I wonder if it was a press or company vehicle that was damaged and they choose to auction it as they wouldn't want to repair it and put it through the dealer network.
2005 Defender 110
It sold for $21500 or $22500 + admin fees etc. Rego number was ULR--- & was first registered by ULR so it may have been a demo vejhicle.
Must have been some desk-jockey testing the new Defender to its limits. No-one on this site has ever rolled a vehicle, have they!![]()
