High Country Long Weekend - Awesome!

I just came back from spending the long weekend up in the Vic High country which was fantatsic! Stayed at Buller and because I am in between cars [sold my 90 in Sept last year, my D3 is coming in May which is a long story...] I did the trip on my KTM 450....

    I saw heaps of Landy's -defender 110's, 1x90, D1, D2 and D3s, a couple of classic rangies.

You could have described the high country as 'bustling' with activity from horses, hunters, walkers, school campers, mountain bike riders, workers [on huts], motobikers and of course 4X4ers. What I noticed the most was the great spirit amongst all the users of the high country. Everyone was very friendly and made room for each others interest... Even being on my bike, I noticed people were very friendly...sometimes I hear otherwise and bad stories about the bikers vs 4X4s, but that is an issue created by the non rego, non licensed, RM80 group....

ANyway, thought I would share that with you and a couple of photos...

    Some highlights were:
    Pineapple flats
The Bluff and Bluff hut construction
    16 Mile Jeep tk?
    Cornhill logging track
    Craigs Hut
    Stirling
    Pikes Flat
    etc etc etc

    Some pics and some landies...

Generally thats how it is up there, everyone is very freindly and gives everyone else room.

I have come accross some of those bike riders that your talking about before and im sorry to say but they have left a bad taste in my mouth but I dont treat all bike riders the same, most of them are pretty good and a lot of the time they are on the narrow bike tracks and not the main tracks anyway.

On our familly farm in Merrijig, we have a Motor bike track where the local club runs a day once a month training young kids and people new to Trail bikes how to ride safely in the bush and on the track.

My dad was pasionate about it when he was alive after watching how me and my mates learnt what to do and what not to do on motor bikes and when the bike club asked if they could set up the track he agreed to it and went and bought bikes for my kids who go up most months for the day at least.

Glad you had a good time.......the S3 ute belongs to "Stirlsilver" on the Forum.

There were at one stage up to 30 people watching, photographing or videoing us working at the Bluff Hut site. Now I know how them elephants at the zoo feel....
