yes there are issues as there are with most cars and engines.
The oil in the ecu is an easy inexpensive fix with either cleaning both harnesses or replacing the injector harness and cleaning the main harnes (plenty of threads on this).
The bolt in the oil pump is rare but again an easy fix, drop the sump and re loctite.
Heads are only an issue if the engine is overheated as in any alloy engine.
TD5s are expensive to replace yes, but prices are coming down. The 18-20k quoted was for a new engine fitted, but can be done for less as can rebuilds or second hand engines.
I have had no major drama with mine, just quirky irritating things.

Has anyone tried that new "you beaut" oil resistant, heat resistant , self sealing silicon tape on a TD5 injector loom?

the oil creeps along the wires using capilary action......

if you could seperate and seal the independant strads of the wire you might be in with a shot.

so far the best solution appears to be lifting the top of the injector side plug and filling that with sealastic goop.

l understand what your saying but l think most of the frustration comes from, lf they knew about these prob's then why the hell didn't they fix them!!
a similar frustration of mine was that of the ****ing nylon lock washer they use in the dizzy of the 3.9l V8, to lock the rotor shaft down in place WTF is up with that ??
l now have two extra dizzy's in the garage just to be sure because you cant buy the washer of the shelf without forking out $130 of a new service pack???

with a sense of understanding!

We haven't had any trouble with ours but it is still quite new. I honestly think there are a few issues with them but apart from the oil in the loom they aren't very common.

Also, they issues are pretty well known now. I like that. :)

I created one of the big TD5 threads with the intention of getting to know it's characteristics so I can work with them :)

Actually I know how he feels. In some of the td5 threads there are a number of people that have really attacked and said they are useless because they have electronics in them basically.

Its been happening for a while so I can understand this thread.
