    Stevo,

Don't get too "hung up" on the price.
Remember I paid top dollar for a 10 year old V8 that had 102thou on the clock and was also black and shiny underneath.

It's the old story, you get what you pay for.
Mine has been fantastic and yours will be as well.

No stress from bush work and you know where is hasn't been. That is the GOOD part
I have to get a little "hung up" otherwise won't be able to convice SWMBO about the mods I want to do . Will be heading off shortly to see it, so will update later today when I get back...see if the dealer is "dreaammiinnnggg" or realistic,

    Regards

    Stevo

Steve...why would you get a disco? Why not a defender when you already have a D3? I presume it would be an addition or a replacement?

Hey mate...in simple terms with growing a business and soon to be 5 childrens mouths to feed and one income, a cost of $2000+ p.m is just not a luxury I want to maintain anymore. A week ago I spent over $200 on fuel . I drive to Brisbane 3 times a week, there and back to pick up two of my children to bring them down here....a diesel will be more economical as a round trip up and back is about 160kms.

I've been wanting to sell it for a while but the gap was too far ie what I could get for it versus what I needed to get for it. It has still cost me $6k to get out of it. I have a beautiful home on acreage and other things I want to get involved with and the $$ can be better spent on making more $$$ as to an ongoing...large liability.

So I did look at Fenders and that is where my heart is....one day I will have a 130 if some of my plans come to fruition. With 5 children, the Fender just didnt suit and hence the option to go with a Disco does. Had another test drive today...and now the negotiating begins. I have laid down my cards and now waiting to see what they come back with.

    Regards

Fair enough mate I thought it was an addition. If you were looking to one vehicle I would do the same. It's a 7 seater I presume?

I waved , sometimes a bit hard to see through the tint, thought it was you going the other way.

Yep 7 seater, once the bub arrives, we will need at least 6 seats anytime we head out,

I dont think we are reading the same post. There are not many who are agreeing with you, maybe one outright. Most have actually stated the understand the concerns, but most concerns are more scare mongering. However they do exist. Yes there are other sections around here that deal with these questions but this is also a general forum area and a lot of new people are still finding their way around.
The point of this site is to give people information and ther is no way that post was offensive or should not be included.
If you do not agree say so and move on.
There are many many new people coming to this site for advice and who know nothing about Land Rovers and their perceived problems. Dont shoot them down for asking. If you dont have something constructive to say to them make your point and move on. Leave it to people that are prepared to answer questions honestly for these people. We have all had to learn about misconceptions. There are way to many new people on this forum that think it is their god given right to be little other people lately. Good way to put new and old members alike off coming here.
The only dumb question, is the question that is not asked!

Anyone who knows me will know that I am a pretty easy going person but these threads really are basically pointless.

I agree forums are a great place to learn about the cars and their faults, but to start a thread just listing some apparent faults for no reason is not helpful.

There have been some really long td5 threads recentley and one of the mods has started a td5 technical thread with links to all the other ones, so surely thats a good place to start.

Anyway hope I didnt offend anyone, but thats how I feel.

    thanks for replies

Have had my TD5 for 6 years now and was coasting along as happy as Larry till reading TD5 threads on home page, got a shock at how expensive some problems can be. Feel a lot better now I've read how they can be managed, will get coolant level sensor/alarm as soon as can locate one, any clues? I see there is add for coolant alarms on top of page, is this the way to go?
Appologies to those I have upset, I didn't get to many hugs but a few good kickings
