    Headlights???

Hey everyone, series 3, just fitted a new snorkel, mates at gun proformance and exhaust bent me one, looks great. ran of carby, then over near the heater fan out the side and up to roof height. used a ram air pod on top, looks good, photos up soon.

Any way, head light drama, turn lights on, no problem, pull back on arm, all the lights including the spotties flick, push forward to lock on high beam, headlights and spotties die, side lights stay on? driving home with all lights on and it just went dark, turn from high to low lights came back on? please help, weekend away......

I'm thinking it's the contact points at the base of the arm, It's a pretty simple mechanism with various things sliding against each other. Sometimes the contact points need to be re bent...

What happened to mine was that the cable leading from the switch to the lights had actually come off... easy fix. Just take your steering column shroud off and snoop around.

Stirling is probably right. Note that Series 3s do not have a headlight relay, and using anything more than standard wattage bulbs is asking for this sort of problem, as the current exceeds what the contacts (both here and the main switch) will safely carry.
Check that your lights are no higher wattage than standard (max 60W) and if they are, either change back to standard or fit headlight relays, which are a good idea anyway.
