I agree. Daihatsu Charade 3 cyl 5 speed. Other best car (other than LR of course) was a Datsun 180B. Great car. Never let me down.
    Cheers

I hate to say it but the two most reliabe cars I ever owned were both Hyundai's an Excel and and a Sonata. The later being a nice car to drive but it had a large "H" on the back

Now have a Falcon I wish I had never bought !
Even makes me think I should go get another Sonata
    Seriously !

    Funny you should mention that
I was talking to a mechanical shop who did the roadworthy certificates for our local Ford dealer, a few years ago.

He said most AUIII cars came in, got the seal of approval and went back to be sold. A lot of the newer BA models with very low miles, went back with a list of required repairs!!

First I had a 1964 IIA. Bought it when i was 18, and ran it into the ground. never stopped once.

1976 range Rover with a 4.4 leyland in it. That thing just went and went and went. It wa an absolute wreck, all dented and rusty, but it never broke down.

Then I bought a 1978 rangey that had the interior burnt out. Got a new interior, had everything reapholstered, and apart from finding out it had no reverse after we got it going, it never let me down either.... DID a flood story with Channel nine.. Emptied a can of WD 40 under the bonnet and drove with water over the grill and up to windscreen for a whole day and it never even coughed!

Then had a 1982 4 door rangey. It let me down at every oportunity! We had to roll down the range behind Tenterfield..... after blowing the three speed auto out of it. A guy who gave us a lift looked exactly like Ivan Milat. he pulled a huge bag of drugs out of the glove box and tried to sell it to us.

Then 1996 Disco V8... Beautiful machine. Never even looked like breaking down.

02 Disco.... The baby. it just purrs.

Most people who say land rovers are unreliable have neglected them, have thrashed them or have bought one that's got so many K on it you might as well not even bother.

    Just my 2c worth.

I had a few Falcons before getting into 4bees
An XW 3.6, XC 4.1 and XD 4.1
the xw and xc were second hand and the xd was brand spankers, I had then for a total of about 14 years, the XD for 10 of those.
I replaces a clutch in the XW and in the XD. Never another issue.
    Steve.
