Thread: Corded Drill

Done mine to. I've got a 12V Bosch with a keyless chuck on which the locking mechanism is cactus.

To open/close the chuck you just have to put it into low range now. Its got a 3m cord on it now and fitted to a 50amp anderson plug which plugs into the outlet on the towbar from the 105a Gelcell.

Ive got one Ive been always meaning to convert,the drill has been used 4 or 5 times.
lost the reciept,got a new charger 1st failure(3 weeks old) that charger lasted 4 weeks,after the first hassle I didnt bother going back for another.
Seeing this thread reminded me,must dig it out and convert.Its a 14.4V,I imagine it should run OK on 12V.

I'm not sure how old all those batteries (drills) are?

my $40 GMC thats 7 years old still runs fine,, takes around 7 hours to charge, lasts a while,, depending on what you drill,, but is still a bargain,,

the dummy battery pack is a great idea!!
especially since I have a 10 metre 12V extension lead
(usefull for radios, air compressors and fridges)

Only 2 cells in your battery pack or 2 faulty ones?
I pulled apart one of my DeWalt batteries today (12v) and it had 10 in total.
Considering how old the drill is (got 2nd hand six years ago) I think it worthy of all new cells in its battery packs.

I plan on repacking one battery pack at least.

There was a place in Dandy (what CAN'T they do in Dandenong?) that re packed an old laptop battery for me. I forget the name as it was a few yrs ago.

Only thing I found though is that most place cant pack Li-ion.

(that is to say, most = all)

You can get some cells from Jaycar but they don't carry a particularly wide range.
