    Wheel bearings

Does anyone know a cheap place to get wheel bearings and seals for a 93/4 Disco front end, I have them on my trailer and just smoked one side. I guess it was a fair bit longer between gease ups than I thought

I havent pulled it apart but it was literally smoking by the time I got it home so I would say they are beyond repair.

What about one of the site advertisers, e.g., British 4WD?

See British Four Wheel Drive - Land Rover & Range Rover Parts Specialist :: DISCOVERY SERIES 1 :: AXLE :: FRONT AXLE

Having said that, I bought my bearings at the local bearing shop.

I would just take it apart and take the bearings to your local bearing supplier.

Dont buy too cheap or else you will have to replace them pretty quickly again.

    Buying Bearings

All bearing out lets have a book detailing the type of bearings for each make and model of vehicle this includes wheel seals.
I always ask for trade price ( mates rates) you can save 10% or more by asking I very seldon get refused trade price.

    NO.....

Avoid Cheap Chinese no name bearings e.g. Trailer bearing kits....

There are a lot of bearings (and other stuff) made in China which is of good quality but is just not much if any cheaper than the Japanese or Korean made stuff.

There is very little bearing stock made in OZ or Europe these days and most of what is is specialty stuff that is no use to any of us.

I got my last set of bearings from Four Wheel Drives, they were $22 each (bearing and cone). I didnt notice any difference in quality between those and the ones i last got from my local bearing place for close to $40

try and stick with timken skf or nsk bearings with the grease pushed in from the side of the race and not just smeared over the top, also use a heigh temp grease preferably with molybdenum disulphide
