At Waterford I waved at a defender today as he was getting out and he looked straight at me as if I was not there It must be the Disco thing but then I in my rearview mirror noticed him looking at me so go figure. He still didn't wave

mind you i have tried waving to disco's and rangies on the open roads
but it was a waste of time ................

    only get strange looks
How true.... we can describe this scientifically:

Defender to Defender = Always a wave (if it's not a "workman" vehicle or military)
Defender to Series = Always a wave
Series to Series = Always a wave. And probably stop and talk about oil leaks, rusty bulkheads and that.
Defender to Disco = Unlikely as Defender not expecting it. And disco too busy with the kids/labrador etc.
Disco to Disco = unknown (help here ?)
Defender to Rangie = Unlikely to happen. Although sometimes jealous looks from Rangie driver, through Armarni sunglasses.
Defender to Forward Control = probably stop, get out and have a chat
Forward Control to Forward Control = probably stop, chat about fuel consumption, have dinner, marry etc
Rangie to Rangie = Er no.

I'll keep my eye out for you. I set off from Perth on 21st June, head straight for Broome and then east into the Kimberley. We won't be spending too much time on the GRR but will be dropping south to check out the Mornington wildlife sanctuary/Bungles area. Will probably head further east into the NT around Victoria River area but not further east than Top Springs, then back to Broome for some RnR mid July. We'll be in a Defender Wagon and Trayback

I always log Defender sightings. Bumped into Noddy in Broome once but did not know it was him. Just complimented him on his Defender and left him to his breakfast.

D2's are considered to be girly cars when they're in standard trim.

As for the original Freelander, It's has the makings of a goodlooking car, shame it's just plain crap.
Well girly car, I thought at first was a little harsh, but at the moment am borrowing a mates highly modified D2 as we are down one car and yes mine next to that looks a little woosy . It will be de woosed over the coming months, apparently I'm not allowed to use the baby bonus for mods .

When I had the D3, I waved a bit, rarely got a wave back, sometimes from other D3 owners. Have given the nod a few times in the D2 to no avail but thought with a Fender driver would have definately got a wave...maybe he was too shocked ,

    Regards

Always amused at the putdown freelanders get , Had mine since new 1999xedi, got 150000ks on , it has been all over WA from top to bottem , never been prevented from going anywhere that i wanted to go including following river beds in the Pilbara looking for gold . It has never let me down , it receives it services and regular maintenance and sometimes preventertive maint. So far so good touch wood !!! , Had quite a few 4x4 in my time and cant say my freeby is any better or worse Than any other vehicle i have owned . Must be just lucky i supose
