Big V8 diesel with a 6 speed manual transmission.
Strong axles (Nissan perhaps).
Enough lift to fit decent size tyres. Flares to cover them.
Steel front and rear bars.

Thinking it over, I would have to say that it would probably be a pink 1954 SWB with no roof, stuffed brakes, knackered clutch, dodgey chassis and leaky exhaust.
That's what my grandfather handed the keys over to me in 1966, and after fixing it with wreck bits and the odd new part from Four Wheel Drives in Sassafrass, my brother and I had years of fun belting it around the farm...................
Cheers,
I'm pretty happy with the '94 110 wagon with rear Maxi Drive.
I would add a front True Track and I would love a bigger engine.
Other than that I would settle for one of the new "Special" defenders. I think I could live with that.
Steve.
