Aaron, I think this is the one you mean.

    Very slippery when wet!

These are very popular 4WD areas in Jarrah forrest that has been wiped out and replaced with pine trees that are repeat planted after harvest, its HORRENDOUS to see!!!!
Jeffs tip of not publishing trip details online is a top tip!!!

In pine plantations within QLD forests, you are only allowed to drive on "roads suitable for 2-way traffic", so I have been surprised that some of the "good" tracks are within them over here.

It is a real shame to hear that A-break has been closed. It was one of the few "good" tracks. A friend told me that many years ago, you could drive on a lot more tracks, and many of the best tracks got marked as "dozed lines" when they mapped the area - i.e. not a track - so couldn't be driven on. Is the track to Diana's Bath still open? The loop at the end was always good fun.

    Park Alerts:

Caution for Mount Mee Roads over the month of May
    Affected park:
Mount Mee State Forest and Forest Reserve
Caution is required when using the Forest Drive roads in mount Mee Forest Reserve due to on-going roadworks over the month of May. Most of the main roads are being re-gravelled and graded over this period as part of the road maintenance program.

Beware of temporary road closures that may necessitate long delays &/or detours, along with large gravel trucks, graders, rollers & water-trucks on the roads.

Beware of loose gravel and rocky sections of road and please obey reduced speed limits on the roads in the interest of public safety. Track/Facility upgrades 09 May 2008

Fat50 told me the A break closure was with posts into the gound accross the track. As I said I wasn't there, but thought I would share the info. Posts are normally a bit more permanant than road works.

Kinda hard to see/get perspective on that footage.

All will be revealed wednesday/thursday guys. Ill do all of A Break if its open, and see if it is still a 4wd track.

    Aaron,

If it is closed, how about going up to the ranger's place and asking why?

    Cheers.

    A Break is a go`er

The road was closed just for work. I think officially it was still closed as the signs were still up at the Dianas Bath Rd entrance. From the Gantry side the signs were knocked over and pushed into scrub. There were no permanent signs at all.

The work they have done was purely maintainance and redoing the flood ways. They've done a brilliant job as its far from smooth, but they've taken away all the wheel ruts.

Dust is severe (lol) ankle deep bull dust. I cant wait to see how the track looks after a decent shower. With the loose conditions Ive never had TC firing on all cylinders like it was today.

The track I have found (may be a popular one for all I know) is 400m's from the beginning of A Break (Gantry side) take a left and drive. 300 Meters into the track there is a severe wheel rut section. After rain I just know its going to hold water for weeks. Key to it will be keeping to the left... Obviously feel around with a long stick (right hand side of the rut there are couple of trees where ive thrown some ideal depth feeling stick) This track just leads down, down, down and down some more.

Thats all... Go have some fun.
