They sell it by the metre as follows:

    4" wide - $8.80/m
    6" wide - $12.00/m
    12" wide - $25.00/m
Not as expensive as I thought, so am going to get a few lengths. Bloke on the phone said it is proper automotive quality and guaranteed not to yellow.

HTH anyone looking for this stuff
    David

    Yep I'm up for some
I've got a BRAND NEW paint job

But i'm in WA ... I asked 3M in Perth about 4 months ago about the "film" and they said they didn't stock it .... I will ring 3M Perth and ask again ... if not, I will ring up SA and get them to post a roll to me //

Q's ... Are these SA boys OK to deal with??
Do you know what it's like to install this stuff ???

It's a "Sacrificial" layer over / on your paint job ... Install mainly down sides of car .. to stop shrub damage scratch lines ... add temp pieces over bonnet & roof

Remove when it looks bad // Replace with new layer on your next trip
When it's installed, it should look invisible over paint job

Sizing ... Measure your door height & add a bit

A's .... No idea! Just rang them this morning. Am going to see them this afternoon.

Installing - I presume you peel off a backing sheet and stick it down carefully. Dunno - maybe it's like window tint and you spray soapy water and squeegee it down to make it stick.

I have rang 3M Perth and have been given a "chook raffle" of phone numbers of 3M Stockist /// Got one ringing Sydney for product supply of 900mm & 600mm rolls .. (Price & amount of per roll)

Bottom line is .. No one in Perth has it
Let me know how wants "in" on some (group buy)

yeh i know whats its for if you look at my posts above i was asking where he was going to put it? i.e just in some places that are suceptible to damage or all over

and in regards to measure you door and add a bit i was refering by asking what width is he buying because it would take a lot to cover a car even if you brought 9 meters in length if its only 2 inches in width

    Apologies on all that
.. Just a case of me, fast reading & bit of jumping to conclusions ..
I also miss-read the sizes part
