The HID's spike to around 13amps when they first fire up. Once the lights are warmed up the spike is reduced to less than ten amps

I've also fitted hi/lo HID to the Disco, and have been running Hella Predators for quite a few years now on various different vehicles. The headlight conversion on the Disco is a real winner - much better than any other globes I had previously tried.

I also have a set of Rally 4000's with cheap Chinese H1 HID conversion sitting out in the shed, which were mounted on previous Prado work car. To be honest, I can't pick the difference in performance between these and the genuine Hella Predators. Nothing at all wrong with the cheap Chinese kits.

One day I'll have another vehicle to mount them on again, but they'd look a bit out of place on SWMBO's Ford Festiva or my new work car (Astra Hatch).

So you'vre convinced after seeing Stirls! I know I was. So much so that I fitted 50watt 4300k H4's to the Main headlights and 50watt 6000k H1's to a pair of Cibie Super oscars.
I was a bit worried the 50 watt H4's would be too bright, so far so good as there is minimal glare, this could be because I fitted them to Cibie Z beams, they have a very defined beam. The improvement is staggering.
I bought off 2 different sellers, both in china. One set took nearly 2 weeks to arrive and was what I thought pretty good quality. The other set arrived in 4 days! the Packaging was far better as was the overall quality of the loom. The ballasts are the same size and appearance so I guess time will tell if they are the same or not. Go for it :D

I havent fitted HID's to my Disco yet but I did put a cheap Chinese $174 set on my 640 KTM Rallye bike . I can tell you they were on every day for the full 9 days of the Australian Safari and didnt miss a beat. They were the only headlights that could penetrate the dust on the Marbel bar to Newman transport section and I had about 20 bikes behind me following.

Chinese yes cheap yes but quality is still very good dont forget it wasnt that long ago we were all saying cheap Jap crap.
